GFS RPMs for CentOS

Filed under: Software — Perlboy at 6:13 pm on Friday, April 29, 2005

For the adventurous, I’ve built a set of GFS RPMs based on CentOS 3. These are for the latest kernel release 2.4.21-27.0.4.EL. They are being done as an ongoing contract for a high availability cluster system for my business, Serverpeak.com.

Help yourself here.

Latest Tomcat packaged

Filed under: Software — Perlboy at 7:41 am on Tuesday, April 12, 2005

Heya,

Ok, I did this during another CSSE3004 assignment stint. It’s the latest Win32 version of Tomcat packaged to allow for access to the UQ labs configuration of Java 1.4 or 1.5. It’s designed to be a drop in replacement for INFS3202 (which I did last semester, learned a LOT :)).

NOTE: Xiaofang (INFS3202 Coordinator) has STATED that they will be testing with the supplied Tomcat.

Consequently, use this one for faster compilations (like, 100% faster, takes about 5 seconds to compile most things compared to like 10-15 on the old version).

Find it here: http://www.seekbrain.com/downloads/tomcat.zip

PHP and MySQL RPMs

Filed under: Software — Perlboy at 5:59 pm on Tuesday, February 22, 2005

Hi All,

Ok, I’ve decided to transfer the RPM repository over to Serverpeak.com. This is done for a few reasons.

Firstly, this software is maintained because companies pay me through Serverpeak.com to maintain it. Secondly, by moving it under the Serverpeak banner it means that as Serverpeak grows (2 employees, another coming, soon, I hope ;)) my time will be devoted more to Serverpeak related work. Thirdly, I feel that Serverpeak needs exposure to the companies it serves and by transferring the RPMs to a publically available, high bandwidth FTP server hosted with Serverpeak funds (as opposed to my own) I am able to not only help increase the PR of Serverpeak but also provide a level of professionalism that the RPMs are maintained by a business rather than just little old me. :)
So, for those looking for PHP and MySQL RPMs (and yes, I’ve released PHP5-CGI now ;)) check out the following url.

Cheers,

Stuart

Upgraded Movabletype

Hey all,

I upgraded to MT 3.11. Took a bit of doing but I finally got it done. It’s interesting to note that while Six Apart DOES put limits on licencees their software doesn’t enforce it.

I’m a big fan of “honesty” based licencing and consequently I’d say I’ll be paying for MT. :)

New PHP 4.3.8 RPMS

Filed under: Software — Perlboy at 1:14 am on Thursday, July 22, 2004

Hey all,

PHP 4.3.8 RPMS have been released for the following distributions:

- Redhat 7.3
- Redhat 9
- Fedora Core 1
- Fedora Core 2
- Redhat Enterprise 3

I also upgraded the 7.3 libxml and libxslt RPMs to complete the new PHP rebuild. Finally I built MySQL, Sablotron, Mhash, JS and Libmcrypt for FC1. All this is YUMable by specifying http://www.seekbrain.com/downloads/$releasever as an additional repository location.

Just a final word. For those businesses that use these RPMs to offer an improved service to their clients I’d appreciate a Donation (see the button on the left). I happily provide these RPMs free of charge (like ART) but by the same token I don’t appreciate people taking me for a free ride.

I’m still on what would generally be classed as a “minimum wage”. :) Help if you can…

Stuart
